About Me

Back when we lived in Key West.  And I was tan.  All. The. Time.
Welcome to the nonsense!  I'm so glad you stopped by to peruse my ramblings.  Have you ever tried to pick a few key words to describe yourself?

Well, it's hard!  I'm going with reader, writer, dog-lover, & nomad to the Coast Guard.  How's that for a sum up?

I started this blog in May, 2013 when my husband and I were on the verge of transferring to our next duty station & taking a massive road trip from Key West, Florida to Kodiak, Alaska.

Yes, you read that right.

Driving.  From Key West.  To Alaska.

Check out my first few posts about the trip. (Basically all of the entries from June, 2013) - It was unforgettable, to say the least.

I planned to continue blogging even after we finished our road trip, so it started as sharing our travel experiences and has morphed into sort of a combination of topics:  what it was like living in Alaska & at our current duty station in Virginia, crafting & home decorating projects, books, cooking/food, being a military spouse, and general musings about life and what-not.

This is Cheety, our pug/pitbull mix.  We call him
a Pugbull, naturally.  Also known as the bestest boy.
Because he is.
As for the name of my blog, it came from my husband.  He always says, "It's a Grand Adventure" whenever we talk about where we'll be living or some of the experiences we've had the privilege of having together.

It seemed like the perfect title.  I know, you're blown away by my originality.  It's not terribly unique, but I went with it!

When I first started blogging, the hubby said he wanted to be anonymous, so you'll notice that's what I call him in all of my posts.

I know, again with the originality.  (The hubby?  What a novel term of endearment)  I wasn't about to give him a stunt name, although I have always been fond of Chuck.

At the very least, I hope you find our escapades entertaining & maybe chuckle a little at our somewhat unconventional Coast Guard life.

 Sláinte!
